FINAL PROVINCIAL CHAMPIONSHIP TOURNAMENT

TEAM NOTES:

Registration Fee:  Registration Fee for all teams will be $300.00 per team.  Since this will be a double knockout format tournament, we will reduce the registration fees down to this amount for the final championships.  Please have your band cheques payable to either Robert Bernard or MYRACL LTD.  or if you are paying by cash, we can provide receipts to teams requiring them.

Time Limits:  There will be no time limit games for all games, although for the women’s and boys divisions there will be five (5) runs max per inning allowed with the last inning open.  Please try to have your teams ready to play so that we will not run into delays waiting for teams to prepare to play.

Warm-ups:   Teams will be given some warm-up time prior to the start of the game, but it is your responsibility to warm-up on the sides of the field prior to your game start.

Lineups & Home Games:  It is each team’s responsibility to have your lineups ready to go prior to your game to your tournament division coordinator (contact person) that is listed at the start of this schedule.  Flips for home games will be done a half-hour (1/2 hr) prior to each game start.  Please have a representative present there at your field/game location at this time to take the flip.  Flips for home games will be done with or without team reps present if teams are late.

Courtesy runners:  Courtesy runners will only be allowed for catchers when there are two outs in any inning and must be the last out of the inning.  Other than that, a substitute runner will have to be used.

Team Rosters:  Each team is instructed to please use only the players that have played with their teams for the majority of the tournaments this summer during Provincial Championship play.  Any disputes of players will be handled by the Provincial Finals Tournament Coordinator Committee along with the player reps from each team within the division that the dispute is involving.  Make it simple!  If they have played with your team all summer, then have them on your roster for playing this weekend.  If you feel that players may be questionable, then do not take the chance to possibly lose a game due to an ineligible player possibility as may be determined by the committee.

Fair Play & Respect:  Players and teams will be given one warning at the start of each game regarding the use of foul language and the disrespectful cheering of the opposing team.  This will not be tolerated by the host committee and the umpire crew.  Players and coaches may be ejected from games for their rude conduct and behavior.  Please be respectful of other players and teams and cheer on your OWN team instead!

Trophy presentations:  Trophy presentations for all divisions will be made at the end of all championship games at the end of the day.   Some divisions may be combined with another division so that teams can travel home earlier.  Should some divisions compete to determine a winner after a second championship game, trophy presentations will be made after the second championship game.  All-Star selections will not be positional but rather an overall selection of the players who performed best in their division.

Trophy presentations will be made as determined by the “Provincial Tournament All Star Committee”.  These trophies will not represent the final summer Provincial All Star 1st & 2nd Teams that will be chosen by both the players and the fans and given out during our end of the year NS Native Fastball Circuit Banquet that will be scheduled to take place at the Membertou Trade & Convention Centre on Wednesday, November 10th, 2004 from 6:00pm – 10:00pm.

Extra Innings:  Play will continue as normal until the top of the 9th inning when the International Rule will come into play.  The last out of the previous inning will start at second base for the “away” team, or a substitute runner (as determined by the team) as well as the bottom half of the inning for the home team.

PARKING:  Due to the ongoing problem of vehicles disturbing players and teams during night games, the parking areas in the outfield areas will be closed to all vehicles (when possible) during the Provincial Championship Tournament on Field #1.  Parking areas will be available for day games but will be closed at dusk for Field #1.  Parking will be available beyond the Field #2 outfield parking areas once this has been closed.  Please try to work with us to help with trying to provide the best possible championship tournament we can for all teams.  This will help curb the problem with lights being flashed during game time.

SURVEYS:   Assistants and representatives of MYRACL LTD. will be going around and handing out surveys to players, coaches, fans and organizers to help with determining the overall success of the league and also with helping to decide the 1st and 2nd All Star Teams and MVP’s of the divisions based on the overall summer tournament schedule.  We would like to take this information and compile it to present individuals with these various awards at the year end celebration.

AWARDS BANQUET:  There will be an awards banquet scheduled to take place on the evening of November 10th, 2004 (Wednesday) at the Membertou Trade & Convention Centre Ball Room in Membertou, N.S. from 6:00pm – 10:00pm.  Guest speakers and local native talent will be there to help entertain guests (our players, coaches, fans and volunteers from all the teams).  There will be a minimum cost of $5.00 per players, coaches, and managers listed on their team rosters and $15.00 per person (not on team rosters) to help assist with the costs of meals and entertainment for the event.

Please contact Robert Bernard for more information or if you would like to volunteer to help with organizing this event at 902-295-8200 or email me at robert.bernard@ns.sympatico.ca
