HIGH FIVE Training Opportunities

HIGH FIVE is a Quality Assurance Program for Children’s Sport and Recreation Programs

HIGH FIVE is committed to helping children develop in a positive way by:

·        Helping recreation and sports practitioners gain knowledge and expertise in using approaches 
      that support healthy child development

·        Helping parents make informed choices

·        Providing practitioners with tools that will enhance and maintain the quality of children’s 
      experiences in recreation sport

 

The Principles of Healthy Child Development Training Workshop

Designed for people that provide direct leadership to children (age 6 – 12) in sport and recreation programs, this session provides participants with an approach that ensures a healthy experience for each child.

In this session, participants will

bulletDesign an activity plan that enhances a child’s healthy development and sense of personal success
bulletPractice tips and skills that can be applied to building healthy relationships in all areas of programming for children
bulletLearn to create environments and spaces that foster healthy development and self-esteem.

Session participants will receive Kids at Play: A Handbook for Leaders, a YMCA Discovery Manual and several handouts. Successful candidates will receive a Certificate of Completion. Course length: 7 hours

 

Using the HIGH FIVE QUEST Training Workshop

Designed for Senior Managers, Supervisors, Volunteers or board members who are responsible for quality assurance and support of programs offered to children.  This session provides information on healthy child development, how to properly use the HIGH FIVE Quality Experience Scanning Tools (QUEST) and how to apply results.

Participants will:

·        Learn how to use the Evaluation Tools for observing programs and  reviewing policies and procedures and

·        Practice observation of programs and policy review from the perspective of healthy child development

Participants will receive a QUEST Toolkit, Supervisor’s Handbook and a case study booklet. Duration: 7 hours
